A Day in Student Life

Your education begins with you. When you arrive, you shape your day. You choose how to work and move through the day, asking for help when needed. Take a lesson when you feel ready. You control your learning. Our curriculum is tailored to each student, allowing them to create a personal learning journey. We promote understanding and critical thinking, often exploring beyond traditional education. Every two weeks, we focus on a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), helping students learn about the world and think critically about social issues. This fosters global citizenship and responsibility. Our school camps allow students to discover themselves and connect with others, providing a break from daily life and a chance to engage with nature. Students also develop essential life skills like managing food, time, sleep, and relationships.

  • You can come in when you're ready to begin your day. Our doors open at 8 am, allowing you to arrive at your convenience based on scheduled plans.

  • Both campuses - Panmure (18 Pilkington Road, Panmure, near the train) and Constellation (55 Constellation Drive, near the bus stop) are situated near a major public transport hub, getting to school is easy whether you're coming by train or bus.

  • Your day starts by reviewing your personalised work schedule, which provides a roadmap for your educational journey. You develop this schedule with the support of your teacher.

  • Our staff are always available to help you explore your interests, offer valuable feedback and guidance, and provide expert advice. Every few weeks staff have a conference with the students. The conference notes are shared with parents.

  • Whether you prepare your lunch at school, bring it from home, or head out to local shops, the choice is yours.

  • No rigid timetables mean you can work without interruption, allowing for deep concentration and focused learning. There are no bells, so you provide the structure to the day.

  • You'll craft your own work schedules and set your own tasks, gaining essential skills in planning and self-management, supported by the staff

  • We value independence, free choice, and deep focus, setting the stage for holistic personal development. You will be supported to gain the skills of self management, time management, project management and people management.

  • Our team is here to motivate, support, monitor, and guide you. Regular conferences, pastoral care, and parent communication are integral to our approach.

  • Whether it’s a city outing, a swim, or a mountain hike, you have the opportunity to organise and lead activities of your choice.

  • You’re free to select your own study topics and you can opt to work toward NCEA accreditation whenever you're ready.

  • Students actively engage with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), deepening their awareness of Global Citizenship Education

  • Each term, students complete a Personal Peace Project (PPP), focusing on self-management and inner peace.

  • Our annual Make A Difference (MAD) experience empowers you to contribute positively to society.

  • Flexible End-of-Day Schedule, Your day concludes whenever you’re done with your work, with the campuses remaining open until 5 pm.

  • Our school camps are a big part of our curriculum. They’re a chance for students to learn more about themselves and others, and they’re a great way to get some fresh air and exercise. Students learn important life skills like managing food, time, sleep, and relationships. They also have the opportunity to try new things and explore their interests. Camps are frequent, each term. So we become great at living in community. Its no big deal.
